More than fifty of the world’s most-snapped style icons making the trip down under for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Scheduled between the 6th to the 10th of April, Sydney will have the glorious honour of hosting the iconic event. To celebrate such an exciting festival of fashion by one of the world’s sexiest car companies, we decided to showcase what happens when fashion finds itself on four wheels.

Here are five designer vehicles that would look good on any runway:

Naturally, we start our list with on of the premier statements of style and elegance – the Mercedes. The A 45 AMG recently won both Top Gear Magazine Australia and Carsguide’s 2013 Car of the Year, and with the world’s most powerful series production four-cylinder engine in the world, it’s not hard to see why.

Fashion fanatics will be glad to know the AMG’s interior is an exclusive cocktail of hallmark Mercedes man-made leather, and an all new “carbon fibre” based appearance. With an extensive range of design customisables, the AMG even makes its buyer into a fashion designer.

“Posh Spice”, Victoria Beckham, is the queen of class, so it’s a bit of a surprise to see her tackling a car with serious off-road power. However, Beckham’s “baby” Range Rover Evoque is pure style. Describing her design as “the masculine watch on a feminine wrist,” the car features mohair carpets, rose gold highlights, forged 20 inched alloy wheels, all on a backdrop of sleek matt grey.

Alas, Range Rover has yet to indicate whether we will get the pleasure of sinking into the vintage leather seats down under.

If I could date a car, it would be John Varvatos’ Chrysler. Menswear may be John Varvatos’ speciality, but the Detroit designer has brought his trademark masculinity to the Chrysler range. The 300C’s triple exterior coat is a supreme “phantom black” shade with titanium finishes. Suave, sophisticated and stylish, the Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition is the George Clooney of the road. Extra features include a specially designed gauge cluster, and a Mad Men style clock with charcoal beezels.

Mini Cooper By Kenneth Cole

American clothing designer, Kenneth Cole, has created the world’s only Mini-Cooper to be entirely covered in studs. Featuring a metallic grey and black colour scheme with a dark leather finish, the car is typical of the aesthetic obsessions which characterise much of Cole’s design.

Just to show that fashion has heart, this one-of-a-kind ride was sold in 2010 at a charity auction supporting a cure for HIV/AIDS.

Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster by Versace

With only two Versace Lamborghini’s in existence, this car can only be described as ‘couture fashion with an engine’. Never one to shy away from bold statements, Versace’s custom paint the job has framed the car in block colours inside and out. Hand-stitched, nappa leather seats and elevating doors give the LP360 a sophisticated futuristic feel. Superbly finished, the car even comes with matching luggage, gloves, wallet, and even a pair of jeans. One of the Versace Lamborghini’s recently sold for a meagre $420,000. While the car was second-hand, let’s hope the jeans are new.
