What’s $10 million between Sheikhs? Not much apparently. The wealthiest of Arab sheikhs are so insanely rich that they have enough spare cash to splash out on some amazing sports cars.

Take His Royal Highness Prince Al Waleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia. With a financial net worth of around $20 billion, His Royal Highness likes to live life large and has the toys to go with his jet-setting lifestyle.

The Prince’s toy collection begins with his fleet of more than 300 luxury cars – including a Rolls Royce Phantom, Lamborghinis and Ferraris – followed by a yacht with a disco, cinema, helipad, pool and other lifestyle essentials, and private planes, including a Boeing 747 neatly kitted out with a throne (naturally), two bedrooms and a 14-seat dining table, plus an Airbus 380 with further conveniences including a Turkish bath, a concert hall, boardroom with holographic projectors and, of course, a garage for the Rolls Royce.

For further enlightenment on the excesses of fabulously rich Arab sheikhs, here are the top six cars they favour to sheikh a tail feather out on the road:

Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe

Generally acknowledged as the ultimate status symbol on the road, the Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe glides along the motorway with nary a bump to disturb the comfort of rear passengers who sit in whisper-quiet luxury. Available in a choice of some 44,000 exterior colour options and with exquisite handcrafted interiors in a choice of leather trims and wood veneers, no two Phantom Coupes are exactly the same.

This stately and dignified vehicle features reverse-opening, power-closing doors, a 15-speaker 420 watt sound system and a “picnic” trunk that provides platform seating for two to sip champagne at the polo. Extra touches include self-righting emblems on the wheels and umbrellas that pop out of the front wings (maybe a touch unnecessary in the desert). Optional extras include a Starlight interior with hundreds of fibre optic cable ends to create the impression of a star-filled night sky on the ceiling. Price: from $400,000.

Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 Super Sport

The car of choice for sheikhs who favour life in the fast lane, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is the fastest street-legal production car in the world, with a top speed of an earth-shaking 431.072 km/h.

A second key is used to unleash top speed mode. The Veyron EB 16.4 was named after Pierre Veyron, a Bugatti engineer, test driver and racing driver who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1939 driving a Bugatti. The “EB” refers to Bugatti founder Ettore Bugatti and the “16.4” refers to the engine’s snarling 16 cylinders and four turbochargers. Price: $1.2 million.

Ferrari LaFerrari

You can’t order one of these gull-winged beauties no matter how rich you are. Even a sheikh has to wait for Ferrari to call and offer him one of the 499 produced, then he can cough up $1.3 million for the privilege.

Aston Martin One-77

Only 77 of these super-cool 700 horsepower Aston Martins were ever made, which makes their exclusivity appealing to any sheikh worth his salt. It is rumoured, however, that one sheikh outdid the rest by purchasing 10 – at $2 million each.

Crystal Encrusted Mercedes

Among his collection of 300 cars, Prince Al Waleed has an unremarkable Mercedes Benz SL 600, except that it’s encrusted with diamonds and Swarovski crystals from the body, to the wheel rims, door handles and tail pipe. With a price of $48 million we’re sure it adds sparkle to the Prince’s day, though rumours abound that he charges $1000 to anyone who wants to touch it, let alone drive it around the nearest oasis.

Strand Craft 166

This convenient drive/sail combo solves all a typical sheikh’s luxury transport problems in one. The mega-yacht features a hidden garage that houses a custom twin-turbo supercar to match. Price: roughly $29 million.
