Do you have a need for speed? So do the top car manufacturers around the World. There are a few supercars on the market today that push technology to very limits. It’s not easy to be one of the fastest cars in the World, but these three can all make that claim.

The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport – Confirmed Fastest Top Speed

The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport currently has the official title of being the fastest car in the World. This car set the Guinness World speed record in 2010 when it reached a top speed of 430.9 km/hr. The Bugatti Veryon Sport makes the most of its 8.0 Litre w16 engine and can go from 0 to 100 km/hr. in about 2.5 seconds. The World’s fastest car doesn’t come cheap though as the Veyron Super Sport lists for about $2.5 million dollars. Don’t be disappointed, but Bugatti also electronically limits the top speed of this car to 415 km/hr. to prevent the tires from exploding. Hopefully that’s fast enough for wherever you want to go.

The Koenigsegg Agera R – Claiming to be the Fastest

While the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is currently the confirmed fastest car in the World, the new Koenigsegg Agera R might be claiming this title soon enough. Koenigsegg claims it has tested this car to have a top speed of 439.3 km/hr, 2 per cent faster than the Bugatti. This car was just released this year so Guinness has not had a chance to test out this claim. The Agera R has a 5.0 litre twin turbo engine that offers 1,100 bhp and can go from 0 to 100 km/hr. in 2.9 seconds. This car sells for about $1.6 million.

The Hennessey Venom GT – Fastest Acceleration

While the Bugatti and Koenigsegg battle over top speed, the Hennessey Venom GT holds the title for fastest acceleration. This supercar can go from 0 to 300 km/hr. in just 13.63 seconds. In comparison, the Koenigsegg is second best for acceleration and takes 14.53 seconds to reach 300 km/hr. The Hennessey Venom GT isn’t too shabby on top speed either and posts a top speed of about 427.6 km/hr, just slightly slower than the Bugatti Super Sport. Some say the Venom GT should be considered the confirmed fastest car in the World because it doesn’t limit its top speed for consumers by as much as the Bugatti does.

All three of these cars can make a claim to being the fastest car in the World, something their manufacturers should be proud of. Technology changes fast so who knows how long these records will last. Until the next supercar hits the market though, these three can enjoy their title as fastest cars in the World.
