With the new 5008, Peugeot insists it has created a new interpretation of the family wagon. This new model is claimed to be a car designed to set the benchmark in the seven seat family wagon category and represents a very solid addition to the Peugeot product line-up in Australia. It offers a responsive drive and top quality interior, that is incredibly versatile and spacious. With its new technology, excellent road holding and equipment, the 5008 is said to be safe, engaging and luxurious – making it as good to drive as it is to be driven in.

In terms of its distinctive exterior style, the Peugeot 5008 stands out with its balanced and particularly different profile. The front of the car, with its attractive profiled headlamps and steeply plunging bonnet which extends backwards towards the large front windscreen, has been designed to penetrate through the air in the most efficient way. The natural fluidity in the 5008 is further enhanced by the chrome detailing decorating the front grille which gives the car an elegant and luxurious appeal.

For the interior, the driver’s seat is undeniably original thanks to its raised driving which gives the driver excellent visibility and a real feeling of safety. The designers of the car have succeeded in enhancing the ergonomics of the driving position, thanks firstly to the quality of the seats, and secondly to the steep vertical angle of inclination of the steering wheel. The driving position therefore provides the driver with good control and comfort, while at the same time retaining a raised position and the sense of dominating the road. Leg room is just as generous, as is headroom, which means that tall passengers can be accommodated without difficulty.

The boot of the 5008 is very practical and easy to use thanks to its rectangular shape and with a capacity ranging from 758 to 823 litres, depending on the position of the third row seats. Capacity increases to 1247 litres when the rear parcel shelf is removed and the vehicle is loaded to the roof. This can further increase to 2506 litres when the second row seats are folded away. For families who are always in search of extra space there are numerous storage compartments throughout. In the front, there are large door pockets, storage under the steering wheel and a well designed ‘ventilated’ centre console that offers 10.5 litres of cooled storage.

To make long journeys more enjoyable, the 5008 offers second row passengers a multimedia system which is integrated into the passenger compartment. The system includes two 7″ screens that are seamlessly incorporated into the front head restraints, along with two Bluetooth wireless headsets.

The blend of comfort and road holding is one of the key character traits of this car. Development of the suspension reflects all of Peugeot’s know-how. The front suspension, a pseudo McPherson type assembly with a drop link anti-roll bar derived from the 308, is a benchmark in terms of driving dynamics. The rear suspension with its rear torsion beam has been derived also from the Group’s platform two vehicles, but is specially adapted for this type of vehicle.

The model is available with the choice of either a 1.6-litre turbo petrol or a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, both of which are teamed with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 5008 pricing is Touring Active Petrol Auto $36,990 and Touring Active Diesel Auto $40,490.
