This car chase scene alone had an estimated cost of $40 million to shoot alone. Talk about really investing in your movie scenes.

5. The Bourne Supremacy (2004) – Car Chase with Kirill

The Bourne Trilogy is definitely one of Matt Damon’s best works as the trilogy provided audiences with non-stop butt-kicking action. Not only does it captivate audiences with its martial arts action, their car chase scenes clearly had viewers on the edge of their seats. This particular car chase scene from The Bourne Supremacy sees Jason Bourne (played by Matt Damon) being pursued through the condensed streets of Moscow by a vicious and determined assassin, Kirill (played by Karl Urban). The scene reaches a climatic conclusion as Bourne delivers a well-timed and placed PIT maneuver, resulting in the death of his enemy. Enjoy!

4. Bad Boys II (2003) – Car Chase and Gunfight

The action-packed sequel to the 1995 film, Bad Boys II definitely lived up to audience’s expectations. This car chase scene really captivated audiences with its mixture of comedy, drama and violence as undercover DEA agent Sydney Burnet (played by Gabrielle Union) ploughs through shanties homes in a chase scene so full of destruction that we are surprised that Detective Mike Lowry (played by Will Smith) and Detective Marcus Burnet (played by Martin Lawrence) emerged in one piece.

3. The Italian Job (1969) – Mini Cooper Chase

The original 1969 version starring Michael Caine, Noel Coward and Benny Hill had been well regarded in Hollywood, especially endorsed by Entertainment Tonight (etonline.com). A film that never failed to impress, the energy in this film reached a climax in this scene as three Mini Coopers carrying millions of gold out-maneuver and outsmart police in dense, gridlocked traffic due to their car size.

2. Ronin (1998) – BMW vs. Peugeot

A movie collaboration between Hollywood heavyweight Robert De Niro and French film legend Jean Reno, what do you get? The answer is Ronin. Audiences received a very special treat in this car chase scene due to its unbelievable realism with trademark vehicles such as the BMW M5, Peugeot 406 and the most famous Audi S8. What’s more impressive, is the fact that to achieve this level of realism, there were over 300 stunt drivers employed to give this scene the realism leverage it needed. Impressive, huh!

1. Bullitt (1968) – The Mustang Chase

This car chase scene really is a car chase scene to remember due to its muscle car frames raging all over the San Francisco precinct. The reason for its position at number one is credited to the film’s director, Peter Yates, as he invigorated the car chase scene by interspersing overhead shots using in-car cameras. Also the film’s star Steve McQueen really brings out the realism in this scene due to his natural ability behind the wheel.
